After her bachelor degree in nutrition and health specializing in human nutrition in 2004 Louise decided to become a clinical dietician focusing on diseases that needed dietary advice. She practiced as a dietician for one year working as a consultant giving nutritional advice to companies that wanted to promote the health status of their employees. Later on she decided to enter the world of biotechnology as she wanted to develop skills within clinical trial management. She started out to assist in managing clinical trials from initiation to completion in the treatment of specific types of cancer. Trial related activities included feasibility, site selection, submission of applications to ethical committees etc. and training of extern partners in the participating countries to assure that all staff work according to the established procedures and guidelines. Louise recently started a new job in the Project and Portfolio Management Department which will give her the opportunity to work with the various trials form a more strategic point of view.

Due to family, studies and her current job as well as a constant desire to travel she has obtained an international profile where working with different cultures and nationalities is of great interest. In her spare time Louise works as a volunteer at an online expert panel giving nutritional advice. Personally this helps her maintain the nutritional aspect of her education. Besides from that she has a huge passion for cooking and all types of foods from everything from new products, worldwide cuisines, fine dining and experimenting with different ingredients. Other interests are art, swimming and various kinds of music including Leonard Cohen and the Hawaiian singer Jack Johnson.

Vocationally Louise expects this unique opportunity of GSE Hawaii to challenge her personally and present her with a different perspective of doing things work wise and personally. Her vocational interests are most highly related to her education. She is very passionate about all fields of nutrition and health with everything from dietary status to various diseases. She hopes to visit The Hawaii State Department of Health, NGO’s with focus on nutrition and health-related issues and clinical research projects in fields of HIV/AIDS, nutrition or other health-related areas to learn about ongoing projects and their various procedures.
